What’s Covered in the Book?
The book is designed to be a quick read (less than 80 pages) so that you can read it on a Saturday and begin implementing it on a Sunday. But that doesn’t mean it’s short on content. It covers each of these topics in detail:

* How web advertising works
* How to perform correct keyword research for search engine optimization (SEO) and search engine marketing (SEM) and use it to identify opportunities in your industry
* How to perform a competitive analysis to learn what your competitors are doing to get traffic
* On site search engine optimization advice to ensure search engines can understand your site
* Site structure recommendations so search engines can find and properly index every page of your site

Why Listen to Me?
Several years ago when I was in college I launched SportsLizard.com during my summer vacation. Most of the initial marketing I did failed, and I needed a way to drive traffic to my site without spending any money. So I became fixated on SEO and began immersing myself in anything I could find related to it. I read e-Books, listened to podcasts, subscribed to newsletters and blogs, and downloaded software. I made a lot of mistakes, and things that should have taken 3 months took a year, but slowly but surely, I refined my technique and it started working. SportsLizard began getting substantial traffic and eventually became a profitable business. The site has since gone on to win Honorable Mention in the Microsoft Start Something Awards and be featured in the February 2006 issue of Tuff Stuff Magazine.
In early 2006, I began writing SEO related articles to share with others the techniques that had been working for me. I figured I’d help some people out and get a few links back to my sites from it. What I didn’t plan on was establishing myself as a quasi SEO expert. I started getting flooded with questions from site owners looking to better their SEO efforts, and I always did my best to help them out. I also started getting offered small SEO consulting jobs from site owners who would rather pay for SEO and focus their efforts elsewhere. I have since been published in popular SEO newsletters such as SiteProNews, SiteReference, and Entireweb, and then syndicated many times over on other SEO related sites, blogs, and newsletters.
And from all of that came the birth of Pure Adapt, Inc – a web design, development, and marketing firm located in Albany, NY. Each and every day I still read several newsletters, websites and blogs related to SEO and web marketing because I want to understand what’s going on in the industry so that I can best position my sites and my clients’ sites for success. Online marketing and SEO takes a lot of time and patience and you will make mistakes. My goal with this book is to teach you what works and how to make it work so that you don’t have to make the same mistakes that I did.
